Gujarat nursing student found dead in hostel room, police launch probe
Police say the 20-year-old allegedly ended her life following an argument with her fiance the previous night

The Gujarat Police have launched an investigation into the alleged suicide of a nursing student at Charotar University of Science and Technology (Charusat) campus in Changa-Anand district inside her hostel room on Monday.
Police said that the deceased, Divya Bhabhor, 20, allegedly took the extreme step following an argument with her fiance – an army personnel – the previous night.
According to Mahelav police station officials, the warden of K K Girls Hostel broke open the door and discovered the body after Bhabhor’s roommate, who returned after her classes on Monday afternoon, complained that the door was locked from inside and there was no response to her calls.
Petlad Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Diyora told The Indian Express that as per the hostel rules, all residents were given an out-pass to go home during the weekend.
“The deceased had also taken the out-pass and left the hostel on Friday evening but did not go home. She returned within the stipulated time on Sunday evening. Her roommate told us that she had an argument with her fiance as he had questioned where she had been during the weekend on learning that she had not gone home. She could have been stressed about it,” the officer said.
According to Diyora, the woman had had a history of suicide attempt.
“We have learnt that the woman had attempted suicide four months ago and the warden had called her parents asking them to take her home. Later, things had settled and she was doing better. We are waiting for the family to complete the final rites before proceeding with the investigation. Meanwhile, we have taken the woman’s phone for forensic analysis,” the officer mentioned.
