According to the FIR, Jigarbhai, along with his brother Bhupatbhai, was sitting outside his house when Dhursinh abused him by making casteist comments on Tuesday morning. Dhursinh also allegedly threatened to kill Jigarbhai for “flying too high”. After Bhupatbhai placated both parties, Jigarbhai left for work. According to the FIR, later in the day, Bharatsinh, Sureshsinh, Jaydipsinh, Bhagvansinh, Jagatsinh and Pradipsinh approached Jigarbhai when he was on his way home from work, and assaulted him with sticks.

A friend, who was accompanying Jigarbhai at the time, called up Bhupatbhai. The FIR said that following this, as Bhupatbhai and his mother Sitaben came to rescue Jigarbhai, they were also assaulted by the accused. Sitaben’s blouse was allegedly torn.

As more of Jigarbhai’s relatives arrived at the spot, the accused fled, the FIR added. Jigarbhai and his mother were admitted to Palanpur Civil Hospital.

According to the FIR, the accused had told Jigarbhai that they did not like him dressing up and wearing sunglasses, which ultimately led to the assault.
