BJP MLA from Wankaner Assembly seat in Morbi district, Jitu Somani, has been nominated as a member in the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) for the Rajkot International Airport (RIA). The new committee — the first for RIA — was announced on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Rajkot MP Parshottam Rupala. According to law, the MP of the area in which an airport is located becomes ex-officio chairman and a local MLA one of its members. RIA was inaugurated last year in July. Before that, AAC of Rajkot Airport, which was located in Rajkot city, used to have MLA of Rajkot (west) Assembly seat as its member.  But as the airport moved out of the city, none of the four Rajkot city MLAs were in the new committee.

The Amul Dairy has threatened to initiate legal action against a volunteer at Dakor temple who had earlier alleged that the laddus given out in prasad at Ranchhodrai temple had been “smelling foul” since last few months and should be tested on the lines of the laddus of Tirupati temple for ghee quality. Two days ago in a video message on a social media platform, the temple volunteer had blamed the recent shift to Amul ghee for the alleged issue. Amul MD Amit Vyas said on Thursday, “A few days ago, a similar incident took place in Tirupati and Amul was dragged into the issue. So the federation took strict action and filed FIR against the social media users… At Dakor, Amul has been supplying ghee since March 2024… We condemn such allegations and do not accept these accusations as the ghee manufactured at Amul is made from high quality cow and buffalo milk — the samples of which are checked and only then the ghee is produced using advanced technology. People use Amul Ghee because of trust…We will lodge an FIR in the case”.
