A visit by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday gave rise to a lot of curiosity in the media and political circles.

Patel himself made the visit public by posting photographs with the PM, maintaining that the meeting was “energetic” and discussions were held on the development of Gujarat.

While sources in the Chief Minister’s Office termed the meeting as “routine”, a source in the BJP said that currently, there is nothing on the administrative side for which patel has to come to visit the PM personally. “So, obviously, the reason must be political,” the source added. Former Gujarat president of AAP, Gopal Italia, in a post on X referred to the visit while posing a question – “Is there a possibility of changes in Cabinet of ministers?”

‘Abhinandan Yatra’

As BJP-ruled Gujarat government announced 27 per cent reservation for OBC communities in elections of local bodies, the state party unit celebrated at various places in the state. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Gujarat BJP president C R Paatil also held a press conference in connection with the development. Now, an idea has surfaced from within the party circles that to celebrate this big announcement, a yatra could be planned to congratulate OBC communities. The yatra could also be called ‘Abhinandan Yatra’. Party sources said that it all depends on how the leadership perceives the idea and if it gets a green signal.
