Gujarat: 4 men linked to Lawrence Bishnoi, Rohit Godara held after threats to Rajasthan-based businessmen

(Representative image)A day after they were arrested, four men — allegedly linked with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Rohit Godara — were handed over by the Surat Rural Police to Rajasthan Police on Saturday, said officials. The accused came under scanner after an amount to the tune of `2 crore was demanded from five businessmen based in Rajasthan.
Surat district Superintendent of police Hitesh Joyser said, “The four men are allegedly members of gangs operated by Rohit Godara and Lawrence Bishnoi. Between November 27 and November 30, they kept a watch on five businessmen and their families in Kuchaman city of Rajasthan, and shared information with Rohit Godara.”
The five businessmen allegedly received extortion and threat calls from Rohit Godara. “Three businessmen had lodged a complaint of extortion and life threat against Rohit Godara, his aide Virendra Singh Charan at Kuchaman police station on November 30,” said Joyser.
He further added, “The details of the four suspects came out during investigation by Kuchaman police and after learning their names had cropped up, they left for Mumbai to evade their arrest. Our teams had undertaken all safety measures while carrying out the operation of catching them. No arms have been recovered from their possession.”
After Rajasthan Police shared information with Surat Rural Local Crime branch (LCB), police maintained a watch at Kamrej Toll plaza on NH-48 on Friday evening. Police stopped the car and found four men travelling who were detained. The Surat Rural Police had intimated about the incident to Kuchaman police.
The detainees were identified as Shafik Khan (58), Sarfaraz Khan (39), Shoeb Khan (30), Rahim Khan Pathan (30), all residents of Kuchaman city, who were running a cloth business. A police team of Kuchaman police reached Surat on Saturday and took all the four accused with them.
