GCMMF turnover up by 18%

Leading dairy cooperative Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation,said it was aiming at “rapid expansion” in the financial year that started April 2013 and would expand distribution networks in 700 new markets.

Leading dairy cooperative Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF),which markets Amul brand of milk and milk products,Tuesday said it was aiming at “rapid expansion” in the financial year that started April 2013 and would expand distribution networks in 700 new markets.

The dairy cooperative’s turnover during 2012-13 increased by 18% to Rs 16,668 crore,as compared to Rs 13,735 crore during the previous financial year,a press release issued after its annual general meeting at Anand Tuesday said.

The milk procurement at the cooperative also recorded a growth of 20% during this period,it said.

Over 1,000 new parlours were opened during the past financial year,it said,taking the tally of exclusive stores to 7,000.

The cooperative has attributed the growth in milk procurement to higher procurement price paid to farmers,which increased by quantum margin of 63% in the last four years,it said.
