The students of the first semester of Std XI appearing at their mathematics examinations with objective type questions on Thursday felt that the paper was lengthy and tough. Most students complained that there were three questions with one marks each that did not have correct answers and hence found difficulty in answering these questions.

However,Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination Board (GSHSEB) secretary (examinations ) G M Rabari said there was just one question (Question no. 29) in which there was printing mistake. But he said the students need not worry about it as examiners would give full marks to every student for that question irrespective of whether the student had put tick marks against the right or wrong answer.

As for the questions being hard and lengthy,Rabari said it was for the first time that the students were exposed to objective type of questions and hence they felt so. He said the board had consulted subject experts and they had found that the pattern of the questions to be okay and were all from the syllabus prescribed for the first semester.

It was for the first time that the semester system has been introduced in Std XI of science stream and examinations of all the semesters are being conducted by GSHSEB.

The questions in the second semester would be of descriptive type.
