The number of medical emergencies reported during Holi-Dhuleti sees a considerable increase as compared to normal days across the state. Considering this,the emergency medical ambulance service (EMRI) has been stepped up.
According to EMRI,last year,the two-day festival saw a phenomenal increase in cases of assault,rash driving as well as fever.
On Holi,the number of such cases had increased by 45 per cent across the state,while on Dhuelti,11 per cent more cases were reported.
Vadodara had reported 27 per cent increase in emergency calls on Holi. Similarly,on Dhuleti,16 per cent jump was recorded,said an EMRI release.
In tribal areas,where Holi is one of the most important festivals,there was 200 per cent increase in assault cases,while 60 per cent increase was reported in trauma cases, said an EMRI official.
On the other hand,urban areas like Gandhinagar,Vadodara,Bharuch,Jungadh,Narmada and Valsad had reported 45 per cent increase in cases related to fever and acute abdomen pain.
