(Photo: Linkedin)Former diplomat Sujan R Chinoy, currently Director General, Manohar Parrikar Defence Research Institute and Analysis, on Sunday addressed the first convocation of Sardar Vallabhbhai Global University and said, “The world we live in is undergoing a fundamental transformation. As you prepare to enter a world defined by rapid change, innovation and uncertainty, it is important to remember that education is not a destiny but a journey; it’s a long journey.”
Chinoy spoke to the students about academic, administrative to personal and professional growth. “The world is evolving faster than before— technologies are reshaping industries, global challenges are testing cooperation, and values are being questioned everywhere, but some truths remain timeless—integrity, empathy, and perseverance matter. These are not just moral virtues; they are practical strengths that will distinguish you in the real world. Among the choices about your career, values, relationships, and aspirations, some will be easy, while others very difficult. But one piece of advice I want to leave with you—never make a choice for the sake of convenience.
Your choices should not be driven nearly by the notion of personal benefit or personal gains. You must not simply make choices in life with the pursuit of wealth, power, or position and fame but also in the context of the impact that your knowledge and your jobs will have on improving the lives of those less fortunate than us. Purposeful choice is therefore one in which you also think of society and with the goal of making Bharat a prosperous, strong, and resilient nation in the future,” Chinoy said.
Chinoy further said that the students are graduating in an era that rewards creativity; jobs of tomorrow will not only require knowledge but imagination, the ability to think differently, to innovate, to solve problems that no textbook has yet defined.
