Doctor held for raping MBBS student: Cops

A Vadodara court on Monday sent a doctor working as an intern at the GMERS (Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society) Gotri Medical College to two days of police custody in a rape and blackmail case. The accused, 24, allegedly raped a second-year MBBS student on Friday on the terrace of the medical college. He was arrested on Sunday.

RD Kava, Assistant Commissioner of Police, B Division, Vadodara, said, “Both the accused and the victim had become friends in April last year, and had intimate conversations daily… When they had a fallout, the accused began blackmailing the survivor that he would make the call recordings public.

Afraid, the woman decided to meet the accused to resolve the issue… They met at the medical college’s terrace at the accused’s insistence. When she turned down an objectionable demand of the accused, he overpowered her and raped her.”

Police also said that the accused inflicted injuries on the woman’s shoulder and neck during the sexual assault.
