Couple kills youth in revenge attack

A couple from Bapunagar killed a dance instructor and injured his friends in what appeared to be a revenge attack near the Bapunagar India Colony on Thursday. The couple are reportedly on the run. The police said deceased Arjun Vaghela,in his twenties,ran a dance class in Bapunagar. Accused Atul Solanki and wife Hansa,also residents of Bapunagar,had an old issue with the victim’s uncle,Amrut Vaghela.

Inspector R D Lashkari said: “Solanki and Amrut had an old rivalry and a recent argument had only infuriated the Solankis. They went to Arjun’s dance class and picked up a fight with him. When the argument heated up,Arjun’s sister called their cousin Dilip Rathod for help,who came in along with his two friends,Bharat and Mayur. They tried to intervene,which infuriated the couple only further and they attacked them.”

He added: “Atul took out a knife to stab Dilip,but Arjun intervened and was injured. When Dilip’s friends tried to save Arjun,Atul stabbed them too. Hansa pelted stones at them and vandalised Arjun’s office. They had issues with Amrut and ended up stabbing those who had nothing to do with their personal rivalry.”

The injured were rushed to L G Hospital where Arjun died of stab wounds. Bharat and Mayur are undergoing treatment,the police said. A case of murder has been registered.
