Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley on Sunday accused the Congress of using disgruntled officers to take on the BJPs prime ministerial candidate in an apparent reference to suspended Gujarat cadre IAS officer Pradeep Sharma moving Supreme Court with a plea to order independent probe against Narendra Modi in the alleged snooping controversy.
They (Congress) are back to their old game of detecting a disgruntled police officer or a civil servant and getting him to make absurd charges. This didnt work when (suspended IPS officer) Sanjeev Bhatt did it. It wont work with Congress partys newly discovered suspended civil servant doing it, Jaitley wrote on social networking website Facebook.
Claiming that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is no match to Modi,Jaitley wrote: The Congress is on the back foot as far as the leadership battle is concerned. Today it is under the impression that tweets,taunts and press conferences of its second row leaders will match Modi. This hasnt worked.
In Gujarat,the party has flip-flopped. Either they are very aggressive against him or alternatively they pretend that he doesnt exist. In the 2012 assembly elections,they could not project a leader to match him. They hired a young brand ambassador to counter him, Jaitley added.
