Prajapati Encounter : Investigating agency says arrested cops have not cooperated in probe

The state CID (Crime) on Monday requested for narco-analysis and lie-detection tests of suspended IPS officers D G Vanzara and Dinesh MN in connection with the probe in the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case.

The investigating agency also sought an extension of their remand period in the Danta court in Banaskantha, which was extended by three days. The CID has claimed that Vanzara and Dinesh have not cooperated in the investigation, which called for an extension of their remand.

DSP R K Patel, who is investigating the case, said,“We have submitted our application for a narco-analysis on Vanzara and Dinesh. These tests are vital in their case because they are not co-operating. They are misleading the investigation team with false stories. We need to bring out the truth for which we need to put them under the narco test. The court will decide the matter on July 21.”

He added: “Both Vanzara and Dinesh have, however, confessed that they spoke to each other and with IPS officers Rajkumar Pandian and Vipul Agarwal for long durations during the encounter. They are now alleging that they do not remember what they spoke because the conversations took place four years ago and they have forgotten it.”

CID officers said some points still remain unsolved. The mystery behind the placement of a revolver near Prajapati’s body and the car he was brought in is still a mystery. The details on who provided the car and who drove it to Chapri village along with Rajasthan Police officers, too needs clarification.

CID had previously requested for narco-analysis on arrested officer Ashish Pandya and four Banaskantha SOG personnel, but the Danta court rejected it following refusal by the accused.

He was killed in an encounter near Chapri village near Ambaji in Banaskantha district in December 2006 while attempting an escape during his transit from Rajasthan to Gujarat.

CID has arrested Banaskantha SP Vipul Aggarwal,ACB Inspector Ashish Pandya and four Banaskantha SOG policemen in the case.

Will deal with Pandian separately CID,which had initially decided to request for the arrest warrant of Rajkumar Pandian in connection with the Tulsiram Prajapati case, has now decided to glean information from Vanzara and Dinesh before taking up the probe with Pandian.
