CEPT student commits suicide

A 22-year-old student of the Centre for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) was found hanging at her Navrangpura home on Saturday.

A 22-year-old student of the Centre for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) was found hanging at her Navrangpura home on Saturday.

According to the police,Shristi Srivastava,a third-year student of architecture,was staying at Tirupati Apartments along with her brother. The police said that she was alone in the house; her brother had gone to Vadodara where her family is based. The police said that no suicide note was recovered from the spot and hence,the reason behind Srivastava taking the extreme step was not clear.

Despite the police recording statements of her classmates and friends,they have not arrived at any conclusion.

“As of now we have no information about the reasons for her extreme step and have not had any intimation from her family members who are in a state of shock. We have put up a condolence message on our university website,” said Anita Hiranandani,the Registrar of CEPT University..

The GU police station has registered a case of suicide.
