Former vice-chancellor of Gujarat University Parimal Trivedi, accused of passing casteist remarks against a collegaue, moved an application before a special court on Friday saying he had apprehensions about not getting a fair trial from this court.
He has also sought transfer of the case outside Ahmedabad district and asked for time to approach the Gujarat High Court.
Trivedi is facing an alleged dalit atrocity case in which he was accused of castiest remark against by Pankaj Shrimali, faculty of GLS Arts College in Ahmedabad. In the course of hearing,Shrimali had moved an application challenging the bail of Trivedi on the basis that the witnesses are being influenced. The atrocity court had posted the matter for hearing on June 29.
While moving the application,Trivedi informed the court that his lawyer M G Amin has retired from this case and thus he needs time to find another senior lawyer. He submitted the application seeking transfer of this case outside Ahmedabad district as he has apprehensions that present court and any other court in Ahmedabad district wouldnt give him a chance for fair trail and he might be sentenced.
The court kept the matter for hearing on this application on July 10.
