Book on Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu link set to be launched soon

A book celebrating the relationship between Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu – “Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamprashastih” – is set to be released by Shree Somnath Sanskrit University in Veraval.

‘Somnath-Rameswaram Sangam Ashthakam’, a set of verses celebrating historical ties between Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu, has been composed by the varsity. It is based on “the historical event of the auspicious confluence of the two holy places of Rameswaram and Somnath”, officials said. The book is an amalgamation of compositions by renowned poets with regards to the emotions and sentiments of Saurashtra Tamil Sangam, a government initiative highlighting the cultural link. The best verses from these compositions have been compiled in ‘Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamprashastih’.

“The book will offer a unique experience for readers to experience the feelings and sentiments of the artists and poetic scholars and keep the memories of the momentous Saurashtra Tamil Sangam alive,” stated a government release issued on Sunday. The statement did not reveal the date of the book launch.

The efforts by the scholars of Shree Somnath Sanskrit University will boost this concept and help the world see the glory of inter-state relationships,” the statement added.
