BJP mag comes out with puzzling crossword

For instance,a clue in Gujarati,when translated,says “Gujarat’s most beloved chief minister”. Now,whether you fill the seven squares it provides with “Narendrabhai Modi” or “Keshubhai Patel”,you cannot go wrong since both names are seven-letter words in Gujarati !

This crossword,published in the May 10,2012 issue of Manogat,also has clues like “the Islamic way of praying” and “Holy month for Muslims”.

The latest issue (May 25) is full of clues to test BJP members’ knowledge of the pledges of Swarnim Gujarat and schemes launched by Modi.

Manogat is a compulsory buy for active workers of the party and has a comfortable circulation of 70,000.

The fortnightly was recently in news for lifting the Time cover story on Modi and publishing it with its own spin.

Jagdish Bhavsar,state BJP’s media cell convener who also heads the editorial team,said the inaccuracies would be sorted out.

He agreed that a crossword should have solutions printed in the next issue.
