At 2.63%, Gujarat’s retail inflation rate significantly lower than national average: State govt
This rate is also lower than many bigger and developed states

As per the recently published figures of Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Gujarat’s retail inflation rate, based on the consumer price index, has stood at 2.63% – significantly lower than the national average of 3.34%, stated an official release from Gujarat government Friday. This rate is also lower than many bigger and developed states, the release added.
According to the release, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has succeeded in achieving rapid economic growth while controlling the rate of inflation at a time when it is a big problem globally.
“Gujarat has succeeded in controlling inflation through policy interventions which has resulted in (overall) inflation rate of 2.63% in March 2025. In rural areas of the state, the rate was at 2.61% while in urban areas, it stood at a slightly higher rate of 2.70%. Both these figures are well below the national rural average of 3.25% and the national urban average of 3.43%,” the release stated.
As per the release, in terms of controlling the inflation, Gujarat has “performed excellently” in comparison to major states like Uttar Pradesh (3.01%), Bihar (3.11%), Madhya Pradesh (3.12%), Rajasthan (2.66%), Chhattisgarh (4.25%), West Bengal (3.17%), Karnataka (4.44%), Maharashtra (3.86%), and Tamil Nadu (3.75%).
“On the other hand, with an inflation rate of 6.59%, Kerala has become the state having the highest inflation rate,” the release stated.
