The Ahmedabad City Police Wednesday launched the Artificial Intelligence-based dashcam systems across its patrolling vehicles, including interceptors, which will capture traffic violations such as not wearing helmet or seat belt, “triple riding”, and driving on the wrong side.

These cameras will detect and automatically record the violations, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the information as well as providing real-time monitoring of the traffic flow, enabling traffic officers to keep a close eye on the actual traffic situation, said a statement from the police on Wednesday.

It is also meant to protect traffic officers from false accusations by drivers by providing an impartial record of the events, said officials.
