Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), which is working hard for the last three months to establish its network from the state to the grassroots level with a view to preparing itself for 2017 assembly elections, is going to hold a state level farmers convention at village Dodia village, the site of proposed Nirma cement plant, in Mahuva taluka of coastal Bhavnagar district.
The village has been selected for the farmers convention to project how the state government was neglecting the issues faced by the agriculturists and allotting the fertile land and water bodies to industrialists despite opposition from villagers and farming community. The state government had allotted the land for a cement plant to Nirma in 2008.

Nirma, which had suffered setbacks to its claim in the Gujarat high court and subsequently in the Supreme Court in 2011, however, got a favourable order from the National Green Tribunal in January this year. Mahuva Bandhara Khetiwadi Paryavaran Bachao Samiti(MBKPBS), which is opposing the cement plant and fighting the legal battle, has challenged NGT order in the supreme court.
Addressing mediapersons in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, AAP leader and former MLA Dr. Kanubhai Kalsari said that national AAP leaders including Sanjay Singh, Adarsh Shastri and Asutosh Kumar and a host of farm activists from across the state would address the convention. He expected more than 20,000 farmers from across the state to attend the convention.
Dr. Kalsaria, who is actively associated with MBKPBS and has been the fasce of anti-Nirma cement plant agitation, said that the state BJP government was ignoring the interest of farmers and AAP would raise the issues being faced by farmers in the state.
AAP, he said, would also organise a dinner in Surat on November 1 to raise funds for the party.
Regarding Patidar agitation, he opined that the state government had not tackled the Patidar agitation properly.
He also condemned the police action against Patel community on August 25 in Ahmedabad.
