The Ahmedabad Police is planning a voice campaign on city streets from this week to alert people on various types of thefts and how innocent locals on the roads can be the prime target of robbers.

The Ahmedabad Police is planning a voice campaign on city streets from this week to alert people on various types of thefts and how innocent locals on the roads can be the prime target of robbers.

Jt Commissioner of Police Ajay Tomar said,The idea is to spread the message in the city about a few crimes that have become a serious concern to us in last few months. A specially upgraded police van would go around in the city and spread awareness among people on various thefts and preventive measures.

The police would talk to senior citizens,who often sit at temples or parks,on how to identify the conmen and suspicious elements,Tomar said.

The vehicle theft is a major crime that has been crippling the city. To spread awareness about the vehicle thefts,the police have put up pamphlets containing a set of instructions in hotels,restaurants,highway dhabas,shopping malls,multiplexes and important public places where vehicles are parked for longer durations,he said.

Moreover,for rampant chain snatching cases on city roads,the police have been asked to keep a watch on roads in plain clothes and take pictures of suspicious elements found doing a recee or camping in one area daily.
