A six-year-old girl was raped by a 40-year-old man at Javerpura village in Bodeli taluka late on Friday. The girl was brought to the Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital for medical examination on Sunday.
The police said the incident occurred around 8.30 pm when one Nagin Tadvi (40),a daily wage labourer,had returned to the victims home along with her father due to a sudden downpour.
Both of them work together. The girl’s father offered shelter to Tadvi till the rain stopped. Then he went outside to repair the leaking roof,while the girl’s mother was in the kitchen. There was a power cut at that time and Tadvi took advantage of the situation to rape the sleeping girl. Her parents did not hear her screams as they were in the backyard, said V I Patel,Investigating Officer,Bodeli police station.
Tadvi is a resident of Navanagar village in Bodeli and has been absconding.
The victim is the youngest among three girls in the family.
