5-yr-old ‘raped’

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person in the slum area near Chhani Jakat Naka early on Monday. Police said the victim stayed with her widowed mother near the Narmada Canal.

According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s mother,a person in a white shirt allegedly took her daughter near the canal around 12:30 am while she had gone to attend nature’s call. “When she returned to their shanty,she did not find her daughter but heard her muffled cries. She saw the man at a distance and ran towards him. However,he fled before other neighbours could catch him,” said a police officer. The victim has been shifted to a hospital. Investigations are on,police said.
