Over 300 children participated in a fort-building competition at the Maharaja Fatehsinh Museum in Vadodara on Sunday.
The children built over 150 clay forts ahead of Diwali keeping in line with the Maharashtrian tradition of building forts before Diwali.
The event that started nine years ago and has been going on ever since is organized by the Maharaja Fatehsinh Museum. This year,it saw children recreating the Pavagadh fort in clay and paint.
The competition began early in the morning and lasted for almost nine hours, with 150 teams, each comprising two children, having to complete gigantic forts within that time. The teams were, however, given a lunch break.
Manda Hingurao, curator of the museum, said,We have never given them a theme before. They had always been free to choose which fort they wish to recreate. This year, however,we gave them a theme of Pavagadh as we wanted them to also understand the history behind it. We are trying to continue the Maharashtrian tradition of making clay forts before Diwali.
