The Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court on Monday allowed Zakia Jafri to examine documents submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to it in connection with the closure report against Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others in the 2002 Gulberg Society riot case.
Zakia, wife of slain Congress leader Ehsan Jafri, today filed a revised and detailed application before the court saying that many documents submitted by the SIT to her were in bad condition and not readable. She has sought 32 documents.
The application also seeks documents implicating BJP leader Maya Kodnani and Bajrang Dals Babu Bajrangi among others.
Earlier this month when Zakia was handed over SITs voluminous closure report, she filed an application asking for more than 20 documents, which were reportedly missing from the closure report.
Subsequently,NGO Jan Sangharash Manch (JSM) filed an application before the magisterial court requesting not to give several documents to Zakia.
The JSMs objection is mainly over the documents it has submitted to the designated court hearing the Naroda Patiya massacre case in which it had sought further investigation, alleging a larger conspiracy.
The court has scheduled further hearing in the case on June 7.
