2 JMC officials,contractor booked for corruption

Two officials of the Junagadh Municipal Corporation (JMC) and a contractor have been booked for corruption.

JMC superintending officer K G Toliya has lodged a complaint with the ‘B’ division police station in this regard.

According to the complaint,JMC Deputy Engineer H D Odedara,Supervisor J R Ramani and Contractor Jenti Vadesara had submitted a transpiration bill of Rs 3.49 lakh for removing debris during the JMC’s anti-encroachment and demolition drive.

In addition to this,the trio had submitted another bill of Rs 6.85 lakh,even as the first bill was sanctioned and the amount was withdrawn.

Suspecting foul play,the civic body then ordered a vigilance inquiry into the matter,which revealed that the three had indulged in corrupt practices and had fabricated the bill.

They have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The police said that no arrest has been made so far and investigations are on.
