The Vadodara (Rural) Local Crime Branch (LCB) seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer worth around Rs 13 lakh from two cars on the Halol-Vadodara state highway on Friday and arrested two persons in this connection.
LCB officials said they had got a tip-off about two cars transporting liquor to Ahmedabad via the Halol-Vadodara state highway. We intercepted two Maruti Suzuki SX4 cars near Jarod village and arrested the two who were driving the cars,at around 3.30 am, said a LCB official.
The duo,identified as Sunil Rajput and Nimesh Patel,were coming from Palanpur and were allegedly on their way to Ahmedabad to deliver liquor to a bootleggar,who was identified as one Hirabhai. Primary investigation revealed that the two had got the liquor from Ashok Parmar,a known bootleggar in Palanpur, said the LCB official.
The two cars were each carrying liquor worth Rs 6.7 lakh and Rs 6.4 lakh.
