Around 16 lakh dead voters identified in Gujarat SIR, 23 lakh permanently shifted

The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Gujarat has identified around 16 lakh voters as deceased while more than 23 lakh voters were found to have permanently shifted, a statement from the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said Tuesday.

During the SIR exercise, more than 4.40 lakh voters were found ‘absent’ at their homes whereas, more than 2.82 lakh voters were found to be repeated, the statement added.

Enumeration forms have been distributed to more than five crore voters who were there on the electoral rolls of 2025, the statement said.

In almost all of the 33 districts of Gujarat, 100% work of distributing the enumeration forms has been completed. Whereas, in some districts, that work is about to be completed.

The work of digitising the returned enumeration forms is in full swing. The digitisation process has been completed100% in four Assembly constituencies – Dhanera and Tharad of Banaskantha district, Limkheda of Dahod and Dhoraji of Rajkot district.

In digitisation of forms, among top 10 districts, Dang is leading with 93.55% work completed. It is followed by Gir Somnath (89.62%), Morbi (89.07%), Sabarkantha (89%), Banaskantha (88.96%), Mahisagar (88.91%), Chhota Udepura (88.81%), Panchmahal (87.88%), Aravalli (87.67%) and Surendranagar (87.45%).

The enumeration phase is on till December 11.
