THE CBI has decided to send a detailed report of interrogation of graft accused S-I Mohan Singh and questioning of Inspector Jaswinder Kaur to senior officers of Chandigarh Police shortly. A senior CBI officer, who did not want to be named, said, “A portion of the recorded conversation between accused policeman Mohan Singh and complainant Prem Singh Bisht is linked with the JBT recruitment scam, which is being probed by Chandigarh Police. We will tell Chandigarh Police to look into this because CBI has nothing to do with the JBT recruitment. We also learnt that S-I Mohan and Inspector Kaur were members of a special investigation team constituted for probing the scam.”
The CBI officer said, “The report will also contain observations related to bribery scandal, in which S-I Singh was arrested and her immediate supervisor officer, Inspector Kaur, was questioned.” When contacted, DIG (CBI) Tarun Gaba refused to make any comment. On October 24, S-I Singh was caught red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh out of Rs 9 lakh for not taking action against three employees of complainant Prem Singh Bisht, who were booked in a case of attempt to murder and under provisions of the Arms Act.
Jaswinder Kaur questioned again
Former SHO of Sector 31 police station, Inspector Jaswinder Kaur, was summoned and questioned once again at CBI headquarters in Sector 30 on Friday. She was let off after questioning of more than two hours. Sources said reacting to the claim of bribe accused S-I Mohan Singh that he had met her before going to Sector 31 market for taking money from Prem Singh Bisht on October 24, Kaur said that Mohan met her in her office for discussing a case of NDPS Act. Sources said the CCTV recording, which was seized by CBI from Sector 31 police station on Thursday, confirmed the S-I’s claim.
