GSK Consumer Healthcare Q2 net profit up 12.53 pc at Rs 119.96 cr

The company had reported net profit of Rs 106.6 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

GlaxoSmithkline Consumer Healthcare Ltd today reported 12.53 per cent increase in standalone net profit at Rs 119.96 crore for the second quarter ended June 30,2013,driven by higher sales.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare’s net sales went up by 16.88 per cent to Rs 852.92 crore in the quarter under review as against Rs 729.73 crore in the corresponding period last year,the company said in a BSE filing.

The company follows the calender year as fiscal year.

GSK Consumer Healthcare’s advertising and promotion expenses in the quarter were at Rs 137.56 crore,up 18.49 per cent as against Rs 116.09 crore in the same period last year.

Overall expenses of the company in the quarter were at Rs 746.46 crore,an increase of 18.93 per cent as compared with Rs 627.6 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare were trading at Rs 4,600 apiece in the afternoon trade,decline of 1.87 per cent the previous day’s close.
