A 25-year-old autorickshaw driver in Channapatna in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district was arrested last week after he allegedly engaged in a sexual act with a goat.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 1. A 33-year-old fruit merchant allegedly saw the accused, Ruhid Ahmed, a resident of Indira Cottage, forcibly taking the goat to the back of an under-construction building near his residence. The merchant allegedly followed Ahmed and watched him commit the act, the police said. The merchant allegedly recorded the incident on his mobile phone and subsequently shared it with others.
After the fruit merchant filed a complaint at the Channapatna Town police station on September 2, a case was lodged against Ahmed under Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
Ahmed was arrested and remanded to judicial custody at the Ramanagara district prison. According to the police, he used to stay with his widowed mother and younger brother and worked as a cargo auto driver.
The fruit merchant alleged that other neighbours had also witnessed Ahmed dragging goats to the same location in the past. in the backyard of the under-construction building during daylight hours. Typically, those who rear goats permit them to graze in a nearby open area close to Indira Cottage.
