ABOUT Shriya Saran

Shriya Saran: A Pan-Indian Presence Shriya Saran Bhatnagar, a prominent figure in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, began her acting journey after abandoning her aspirations to become a dancer. Her debut in the Telugu film Ishtam (2001) was followed by commercial success with Santosham (2002). She solidified her position with notable roles in Telugu films like Nenunnanu (2004) and Chatrapathi (2005), alongside ventures in Hindi and Tamil cinema. Her Hindi debut, Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003), paved the way for critical recognition in Awarapan (2007). Simultaneously, her Tamil debut, Enakku 20 Unakku 18 (2003), preceded her role in the blockbuster Sivaji (2007), then the highest-grossing Tamil film. Saran's foray into English cinema began with The Other End of the Line (2008). Subsequent successes included Kanthaswamy (2009) and Pokkiri Raja (2010), establishing her as a leading South Indian actress. International acclaim followed her role in the English adaptation of Midnight's Children (2012). Further commercial successes include Pavitra (2013), Chandra (2013), and the critically lauded Manam (2014). More recently, her performances in Drishyam (2015), Gautamiputra Satakarni (2017), and the pan-Indian blockbusters RRR and Drishyam 2 (2022), alongside Ajay Devgn, highlight her continued relevance and versatility. Her career showcases a consistent blend of commercial appeal and critical recognition across multiple film industries.
