Once the EoI process for AIESL is initiated, the government will take up the privatisation process of Air India Airport Services Ltd (AIASL) and Alliance Air Aviation Ltd (AAAL) “parallelly”, Rajiv Bansal said. AIASL has ground-handling operations while AAAL operates regional connectivity-focussed airline Alliance Air.

The Indian Express has learnt that the Bansals were not only upgraded to Business class but they were also offered Economy Class ticket at rates lower than what other passengers reportedly had to pay.

Air India had in January 2006 ordered as many as 68 Boeing aircraft, including 27 B787-800s. Of these, national carrier has already taken the delivery of all but three planes. The remaining planes are to be delivered early next year.
