Jual Oram biography

Jual Oram, born on 22nd March 1961, is a prominent figure in Indian politics, representing the Sundargarh constituency of Odisha in the 17th Lok Sabha. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has also been a member of the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 16th Lok Sabha.

His political career began in 1989 when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Bonai constituency in the following year and served for two terms until 1998.

From 1993 to 1995, he led the BJP ST Morcha (Scheduled Tribes branch) as national vice-president. He was the party's national secretary for two years before being named party president for the state unit in 1997, a role he held until 1999.

He created history when he became the first Union Tribal Affairs Minister of India. He served as the Minister of Tribal Affairs from 26 May 2014 to 24 May 2019 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi1. He also held the same office from 13 October 1999 to 22 May 2004 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
