Jisshu Sengupta: A Versatile Presence in Indian Cinema Jisshu Sengupta, born Biswaroop Sengupta on March 15, 1977, is a prominent figure in Indian cinema, working across Bengali, Hindi, and Telugu films, with some Kannada ventures. His career, spanning over two decades, showcases versatility and a consistent dedication to his craft. Sengupta's acting journey began with the Bengali television series Mahaprabhu (1998), portraying Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a role that brought him initial recognition. While his film debut, Priyojon (1999), was commercially unsuccessful, he later gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of Rabindranath Tagore in Chelebela (2002). His Bollywood debut in Shyam Benegal's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero (2004) further broadened his horizons. A pivotal moment arrived with his collaboration with Rituparno Ghosh in Abohomaan, marking a turning point in his career. Subsequent collaborations, including Shob Charitro Kalponik and Noukadubi, solidified his position.
