Hasmukh Somabhai Patel, born on 11th November 1960 in Jagudan, Mehsana, Gujarat, is a Member of Parliament from the 17th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituency of Gujarat as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He was born to Somabhai Babaldas Patel and Hiraben Somabhai Patel2. He completed his Diploma in Textile Manufacturing from R.C. Technical Institute, Ahmedabad.

He began his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as a Municipal corporator for Baagh-e-firdosh and then Indrapuri ward for three consecutive terms winning with a healthy margin. He then served as an MLA for Amraiwadi constituency, mostly consisting of Indrapuri and Bhaipura with a small amount of Vatwa, Khokhra, and Ramol, for two terms in a row.

He had won in 2012, polling 1,08,683 votes against Congress’ Bipinbhai Gadhvi who polled 43,258 votes with a margin of roughly 65,000 votes. He had won in 2017, polling 1,05,694 votes against Congress’ Arvind Chauhan who polled 55,965 votes with a margin of roughly 50,000 votes.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, he was elected as the Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Ahmedabad East, Gujarat. He won the election by defeating Congress’s Gitaben Patel by 4,34,330 votes, marking his first term in the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
