A woman from Mirzapur was killed and 11 others injured after the wall of a homestay near Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh collapsed early Tuesday due to heavy rain.

Devotees take holy dip in Ganga on 'Magh Purnima'

Allahabad, Feb 22 (ANI): Thousands of Hindu devotees on Monday took a holy dip at 'Sangam', the confluence of river Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, in Allahabad on the occasion of full moon day or 'Magh Purnima'. 'Magh Purnima' marks the end of a month-long Kalpwas for thousands of Kalpwasis camping on the banks of Ganga. People and priests made their way to the banks before the break of the dawn. The devotees braved freezing temperatures as they took a holy dip in 'Sangam' and offered prayers at the banks.
Security beefed up at Ardh Kumbh

Haridwar, Jan 21 (ANI): Security has been beefed up at the Ardh Kumbh Mela in Varanasi after four suspected terrorists who were allegedly planning to launch an attack at the mela were nabbed on Wednesday. Thousands of Hindu devotees are seen thronging banks of Ganga. The police are using latest technology and equipments to monitor the activities in Haridwar. Meanwhile, a suspicious bag has been found at Haridwar Railway Station gate and is being inspected by the police.
Makar Sankranti: Thousands take holy dip

Haridwar, Jan 15 (ANI): On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, devotees were seeing braving the biting cold to take the holy dip that also marked the beginning of the annual month-long religious congregation 'Magh Mela'. Thousands converged in Allahabad at the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna which is also called Sangam, walking several miles on foot to take the holy dip. People were seen wading in waist-deep waters to pray and perform pujas.

People from different parts of the country pay respect to the saints and seek thier blessing. Devotees from different religions together hold the sacred cloth to pay respects to the Sufi Saint. The reflection of unity and brotherhood was also seen among the children, gathered at the Shrine for yearly celebration. People offered silent prayers to get the spiritual peace. Later, religious Qawalli in the memory of the Saint was also offered to mark the occasion. India is a land of diverse religions where people have been living in peace from time immemorial. This portrays a picture of communal harmony, which is the true essence of India.
