A Chellakumar biography
Chellakumar is a political leader from Tamil Nadu and a member of the Indian National Congress. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Krishnagiri constituency. He was born on January 12, 1960, to his parents, C. Arunachalam and C. Saraswathy. He holds an M.B.B.S degree from Tirunelveli Medical College, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
He started his political career as a member of the Indian National Congress and won the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections from the Anna Nagar constituency in 1991. He then joined the Tamil Maanila Congress and won the 1996 State Assembly election from the T Nagar constituency.
After falling out with Tamil Maanila Congress, he once again joined the Indian National Congress and became the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu All India Congress Committee in 2013. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Krishnagiri constituency but only managed to get the fourth position.
However, he once again contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the same seat and managed to secure a place in the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He is considered a close ally of Rahul Gandhi.
