Rio Olympics 2016 are on their final day and what an incredible 16 days it has been after much noise and questions over the Brazilian city’s capabilities of holding the event without a glitch, the Zika virus concerns (and the pull outs because of that), infrastructural issues, athletes village not being ready and on the outside, the doping issues with Russian contingent being banned. And we’ve reached a stage where there have been no real issues from the organisers side or any events being hurt (even if we discount the colour of the swimming pool changing to green).

As with all Games, there were many records set and many records broken – both World records and Olympic records. The World record was broken even before the Opening Ceremony began with Woojin Kim of South Korea shooting a 700 in individual archery ranking round to eclipse the previous record of 699.

From India, only one record was broken with Lalita Babar setting the new national record in the 3000m Steeplechase Heats with a time of 9 minutes 19.76 seconds to become the first athlete since PT Usha in 1982 to reach a track and field Final.
