In real life: Behind the reel life of models lies an ordinary world

You usually see these models set the ramp on fire, donning breathtaking and sensational clothes and high heels, but few realise that after they pack up the reel life, their real life is as ordinary as any other individual. Not that it's news, but we are often intrigued by the lives of people from the glam-world and wonder if the life they live is any different. Soup, an arts and humanities website, run by Meera Ganapathi recently captured the lives of six models, as their most regular self, in pictures, with the help of photographer Vijit Gupta. The two followed the models for over four months and photographed them in their personal spaces to show a glimpse of an ordinary day in their lives. They can be seen shopping for vegetables, meeting brokers or, sometimes, doing nothing at all. (Photo: Vijit Gupta)

"A lot of advertising, fashion and media objectifies models and creates unrealistic ideals of beauty. To break this stereotype, I decided to show a side of these women that isn't normally seen by the public. A very candid and personal view of their regular lives, behind the fame, make-up, glamour and Photoshop to create a much more honest idea of beauty," said Meera Ganapathi, who conceptualised the idea.
