The first month of a year usually sets the tone of how the film industry is going to perform for rest of the year. 2017 was quite a disaster in terms of box office performance. Hence, it will be quite interesting to witness how 2018 pans out. If we talk about January, there are interesting films on offer for moviegoers. Here is a list of films that will hit screens in January.

1921 - Rs 15.38 crore
Vikram Bhatt's horror film 1921, the fourth installment of the 1920 franchise, did surprisingly well at the ticketing counters. Starring Zareen Khan and Karan Kundra in the lead roles, 1921 earned Rs 15.38 crore at the box office despite being widely panned by critics.

Kaalakaandi: Saif Ali Khan starrer Kaalakaandi was supposed to release in September 2017. It was postponed after CBFC suggested cuts. Now, it is heading for January 12 release.

Mukkabaaz: An interesting film titled Mukkabaaz will clash with Kaalakaandi at the box office. Directed by ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, the boxing drama stars Kumar Singh, Jimmy Shergill, Rajesh Tailang and Ravi Kishan.

Nirdosh and Vodka Diaries: On January 19, it is thriller vs thriller at the box office. Starring Arbaaz Khan, Nirdosh's first glimpse has impressed many but it is Vodka Diaries whose star cast (Kay Kay Menon, Raima Sen and Mandira Bedi among others) is expected to drive people to the theaters.

Aiyaary - February 9
Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary is all set to clash with PadMan on February 9. Aiyaary revolves around a former military colonel (Manoj Bajpayee) who is on a hunt for his former protégé -- a rogue major (Sidharth Malhotra) who can bring down the government. It also stars Rakul Preet in the role of Sidharth Malhotra's love interest.

PadMan: However, the game changer for the month is going to be Akshay Kumar's PadMan, which talks about menstrual hygiene. The film is based on AR Muruganantham's life, a man who struggled to introduce the concept of sanitary pads to women in his village and made sure to make them affordable.
