Akshay Kumar's Rustom and Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro box office clash has turned out to be advantage Akshay. The film has made Rs 14.11 crore on day one and is likely to add over Rs 18 crore on day 2. The film is likely to follow the success of Akshay's Rustom and Housefull 3. Mohenjo Daro opened box office collection on Friday with Rs 8.8 crore and is expected to earn around Rs 10 crore on Saturday.
Akshay is having a great year. Of the top five openers of the year, three belong to Akshay himself. While his Housefull 3 earned Rs 15.21 crore on day 1, Airlift's tally was Rs 12.35 crore. Both went on to do over Rs 100 crore business.
Mohenjo Daro is among the lowest openers of Hrithik Roshan ever. It has been directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker for Disney’s UTV Motion Pictures and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions, Mohenjo Daro has a budget of Rs 100 crore and spent Rs 15 crore on promotion. The film has already earned Rs 60 crore from the sale of satellite rights to Star TV and the music rights to T-Series.
Rustom is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and also stars Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta. Akshay plays a naval commander in the film who is accused of killing his wife’s lover.
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Mohenjo Daro shows Hrithik taking on a man (Kabir Bedi) bent on destroying one of the world’s oldest cities. The film has met with lukewarm response.
