A video posted on Twitter shows very graphically how a suspected bomber is shot by security forces during the attack on the Ataturk airport in Istanbul. The bomber is seen later detonating himself, leading to a large explosion. People could be seen running in the background as well.

At least 36 people have been killed and at least 140 others injured in what is clearly the deadliest terror attack on the airport. Officials believe Islamic State militants may have a hand behind the attack.

One attacker opened fire in the departures hall with an automatic rifle, sending passengers diving for cover and trying to flee, before all three blew themselves up in or around the arrivals hall a floor below, witnesses and officials said.

“It became clear with this incident again that terrorism is a global threat. This attack, targeting innocent people is a vile, planned terrorist act,” Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told reporters at the airport.
