Xiaomi has teased a new smartphone announcement on July 16 on Chinese social networking site Weibo. The device in question might well be the Mi 5 because quite a few leaks have taken place around the next flagship from Xiaomi.
According to a report on TechnoBuffalo, “The online invitation doesn’t reveal much, but it does offer what could be a first look at the Mi 5.” Based on the picture, people are speculating that this could be a metal frame and given that this is a flagship device from Xiaomi, it’s not too much of an expectation to have.
Additionally Xiaomi is also expected to launch the Mi 5 Plus which is rumoured to be a 5.7-inch display with a 2K screen, compared to the 5.2-inch screen expected on the Xiaomi Mi 5.
There had been lot of rumors around the announcement of Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus. A Weibo account revealed complete specifications of Mi 5 last week.
According to the leaked information, the Mi 5 will feature a 5.2 inch Quad HD display, powered by a Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3000mAh to keep it running and might get 16MP rear shooter and 13MP up front.
The device is likely feature a new metal frame design, 2.5D curved edges and also introduce new MIUI based on Android Lollipop 5.1. TechnoBuffalo further reports, “It may cost around 2399 yuan in China.” A fingerprint scanner could also come with the Xiaomi Mi 5, according to leaks spotted by Android Headlines. 4GB of RAM is the other big feature that could be a part of the Mi 5.
Where the Mi 5 Plus goes there are reports of 32GB of internal storage, and some that claim that the Mi 5 Plus will have a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing.
Of course, it remains to be seen what Xiaomi unveils on July 16 and whether the ‘leaks’ will prove accurate.
