LG has announced its latest flagship V20 smartphone. LG V20 is the successor to last year’s unique V10 smartphone, which introduced the concept of a unique second screen. LG V20 looks very similar to company’s flagship G5 smartphone, but drops the concept of modular design in favour of a more practical one. LG V20 is a worthy flagship against the successful Galaxy S7 lineup and newly launched Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and these are the five things that make it a great device.
1. Second Screen: With V10, LG tried a weird concept by adding a miniature second screen on top of the regular display. The concept was strange, but it really turned useful over a period of time. LG V20 retains that miniature second display but adds new functionality to the second screen. The second screen supports notifications, music playback controls, personalised signature, recent apps or even app shortcuts. The display will be more useful than the always-on display found on most smartphones right now. The second screen is also brighter than the one found on V10.
2. Battery button: LG V20 features an extra button on its right-hand side just like the modular button on the LG G5. While it was meant to swap out the module on G5, here it is meant to access the removable 3,200mAh battery. The battery here is bigger than the one found on G5 and by making it user replaceable, LG is trying to bring back the fashion of replaceable batteries.
3. Android Nougat: Yes, you read it – LG V20 is the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Yes, it is not a Nexus, but LG has managed to deliver on an early update. LG V20’s 5.7-inch display with Android Nougat should make for a smooth multitasking experience along with improved notifications and app switching.
4. Audio: LG V20 is the first smartphone to feature a quad DAC, which promises a reduction in audio distortion and almost double the dynamic range. It also adds Bang & Olufsen audio tuning for even better experience. LG V10 offered great options for video recording and with support for lossless audio, LG V20 takes it a whole notch higher.
5. Hardware: LG V20 comes with top of the line hardware specifications like 5.7-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, military grade metal unibody design, dual 16MP rear cameras, 5MP front camera and 3.5mm headphone jack
