India right-hand batsman KL Rahul brought up his third Test hundred against West Indies at Kingston, Jamaica after he hit a maximum off Roston Chase. The 24-year old achieved the feat during the course of India’s second Test encounter.

Interestingly, Rahul hasn’t scored a century at home as his maiden ton came against the Aussies in Sydney back in 2015 where the Karnataka batsman went on to register career best score of 110 runs. Though, India lost that 4-match series. He then demolished Sri Lankan bowlers in the same year in Colombo to score 108 runs.

India were forced to change their playing XI in the second Test match against West Indies after opener Murali Vijay failed to recover fully from a thumb injury sustained during the first innings in Antigua.

Young Lokesh Rahul took total advantage of the void created after Vijay’s injury and smashed a swashbuckling hundred to cement his position in the squad. Last time hosts beat India in Test cricket was in 2002, at Sabina Park in Jamaica. They have had three close Tests since.

India were 171/1 when Rahul completed his ton. India is in West Indies for a four-match Test series under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. This is also the first assignment of head coach Anil Kumble with Team India.

Head coach Anil Kumble couldn’t have asked for a better debut for his new job. India have already registered an emphatic win over West Indies in the first Test clash by an innings and 92 runs.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a total of 7 wickets in second innings to guide the visitors to this emphatic victory. Ashwin produced an off-spin bowling masterclass to grab 7/83.

This was also the Tamil Nadu spinner’s first five-wicket haul outside the Asian continent. India is touring West Indies for a Test series after 2011. India toured the Caribbean islands under the leadership of MS Dhoni and they registered a 1-0 win over the Calypso team in the three-match Test series.
