With a city court taking cognizance of the CBIs chargesheet against him,Major General (retired) V K Singh, former joint secretary,RAW,is possibly heading towards tough times. Booked by the CBI under the Official Secrets Act,Singh is accused of disclosing classified information in his book on the working of the intelligence agency. The court has further issued summons to Singh and Vivek Garg, the publisher of Singhs book,to appear before the court on February 18. Singh had authored a book,Indias External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW,in June 2007. In his book,he had written about what he called the lack of leadership and accountability in RAW and had cited cases of political interference and corruption in the intelligence agency. The book led to a series of controversies and three months after it hit the stands, the CBI registered a case against Singh for allegedly violating Section 5 (wrongful communication of information) of the Act.
