Dissent leader Yogendra Yadav Thursday said the ‘swaraj samvad’, to be organised by party “rebel” in Gurgaon on April 14, is neither an attempt to break the Aam Aadmi Party or form a new one.

Asked if invitation for the ‘swaraj samvad’ has been extended to AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he said, “An open invitation was put on website. Already 3,591 people have registered…so far Kejriwal has not registered himself. If he does, we will reply to it”.

The ‘swaraj samvad’ has received major boost with Medha Patkar, Aruna Roy and Nikhil Dey, S P Udaykumar apart from 70 candidates who had contested the Lok Sabha elections on AAP ticket confirming their attendance.

Roy and Dey are leaders of the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKKS), a “non-party people’s movement”.

“I will be there as an observer. I’ve been told this is not a party meeting nor a meeting to form a party. It is only a discussion on participatory democracy,” Dey told The Indian Express.

Roy could not take the phone call, as Dey said, she has sore throat.

Dey pointed out that MKKS has “done lots of work together with Arvind ji, Yogendra ji, Prashant ji (Bhushan) and others, we’ve had a long history together”.

Meanwhile, Yadav said AAP was not like other parties such as Samajwadi Party or BSP, which had started with high ideals and mission. “Even Congress, DMK and Akali Dal had started from a revolution but have been reduced to fiefdom of a single person,” he said.

Flanked by former National Executive member and Rohilkhand zonal convenor Vishal Sharma Lathe, and incumbent Lucknow convenor Anmol, Yadav said he still a member of AAP and “there been no demand nor attempt to remove me”.
