Akhilesh govt pushes for CBI probe in Mohanlalganj murder

Principal Secretary (Information and Public Relation) Navneet Sehgal confirmed CBI investigation.

Acting on the request of the victim’s family, Uttar Pradesh government on Monday recommended CBI probe into the murder of the woman whose naked body was recovered from school premises at Balsingh Khera village in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow on July 17.

Principal Secretary (Information and Public Relation) Navneet Sehgal confirmed that CBI investigation had been recommended in the case.

For the past five days, the victim’s family was staging dharna at Gandhi statue in Hazratganj area of Lucknow, demanding CBI probe in the case. Police had claimed that Ram Sewak posed himself as a businessman dealing in real estate and took the victim to the school where he killed her after failing in his attempt to rape her. Autopsy report stated the victim had 12 injuries, most of them on her private parts, and cause of death was excessive bleeding.

The victim’s family had also alleged that police were trying to shield few persons involved in the crime. They also demanded that police should clear the confusion over the autopsy report that states that victim’s both kidneys were intact. The victim’s family claimed that victim had donated one kidney to her husband in 2011.

While demanding for the CBI probe, the victim’s family also met UP Governor and claimed to have sent representation to President of India, Prime Minister and to UP Chief Minister.
