Pat Farmer, former Minister of the Australian government, who is on the 4000km “Spirit of India Run” from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, arrived in Vadodara on Tuesday. The run supported by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of External Affairs, aims to raise funds for education of girl child, along with cementing relations between India and Australia ad encouraging tourism to India among travelers from Australia.

Interacting with the media, Farmer said, “I chose to raise funds for girl child because girls grow to be mothers and if you educate a girl, you educate mother, you educate the family, and you educate the nation. This run also makes one of the greatest public relations between Australia and India.”

Farmer will proceed to Anand in the wee hours of Wednesday, thereafter to Ahmedabad, Himmatnagar and Shyamlaji before leaving for Rajasthan to finish the run in Kashmir.
